Overview

Term of App't: This position backfills a temporary leave until the return of the incumbent. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week). Based on operational need, additional or alternate hours may be requested with advanced notice provided.

Start date: Immediately

Reporting to: Manager of Student Recruitment

Salary: Classification 11, $28.62 - $29.50/hour, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees are provided an additional $0.58/hour in lieu of benefits, and 6% vacation pay, for all regular hours worked.

Responsibilities

Are you passionate about education? Do you have your own post-secondary experience to share? We invite you to share these with us and join an amazing domestic recruitment team whose goal it is to have prospective students excited to study at Northern Lights College.

As the Student Recruiter you will be responsible for recruiting new and returning students, providing information to prospective students and related markets, and engaging students in ongoing promotional activities (including workshops, tours of the college, etc.). You will liaise with local school districts for dual-credit entry to the College, parents, and other external agencies, providing current program information and evaluating the required admissions documents to determine eligibility and status.

This position supports the College's growth and aims to maximize domestic enrolment in a competitive market. There will be extensive travel within the region and a requirement to work weekends and evenings (scheduled in advance).

Please note – this position is back filling a temporary leave until return of incumbent.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary program from a recognized institution.
  • Familiarity with both the secondary and post-secondary environments; with an understanding of the student's life cycle from admission to the college through to graduation.
  • Outstanding promotional skills, with the ability to engage prospective students and audiences.
  • Dynamic, energetic personality with excellent public speaking skills.
  • The ability to organize effective workshops and presentations for a variety of diverse and different-sized audiences.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, and be collaborative with the team and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift and transport display and presentation equipment & materials (heavy lifting).
  • Must be willing to travel and have a valid Driver's License.

Preference:

  • Three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Working knowledge and experience with a Student Information System (such as Colleague or Banner).
  • Previous experience with online/digital recruiting activities such as webinars, slideshows, appointments etc.

*** The successful candidate may be required to successfully complete a comprehensive clerical test.
