Position Description
A full time Principal is required by Christian Life School (Peace River North) for the school term. The ideal candidate would be open to teaching part time. Part‑time teaching would be in the area of the candidate's specialty when possible.
Qualifications & Experience- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for). We are willing to assist the right candidate with this process if their teaching certificate is from another province.
- Agreement with our doctrinal statement, purpose and philosophies pertaining to our Christian faith‑based school and policies.
- Willingness to teach part time to full‑time with administrative responsibilities.
- Flexibility to adjust to other course assignments as dictated by course demands (minimum requirements of a minor in a teachable subject at the secondary level as recognized by the BC Ministry of Education).
- Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Classroom management skills and strategies that maintain both an effective learning environment and student dignity.
- Willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals into classroom.
- Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional learning difficulties.
- Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement plan and with professional development.
- Three (3) references.
- Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) or ability to obtain one.
- Statement of Faith.
We have recently renovated facilities and updated the playground including a large outdoor field and gym. Our technology resources have recently been updated and our small class sizes provide for maximum teacher/student interaction.
Christian Life School is located on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains in the northern tip of the Canadian Prairies in beautiful Fort St. John, BC. Fort St. John is 478 km northeast of Prince George and 1,237 km north of Vancouver, situated near the border with neighboring Alberta, 214 km west of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Fort St. John is one of the largest cities along the Alaska Highway boasting many amenities including an indoor walking track, large swimming pools as well as miles of outdoor walking/jogging/hiking trails in and around the city.
The housing prices are comparable to many other cities in the region and we are within driving distance of the Rocky Mountains with many sports such as snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding readily available in the winter and fishing, swimming, boating and hiking make the summers a real treat to experience.
