Elementary School, Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional
Position Description
A temporary full-time (1.0) Primary Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The assignment will be at Alwin Holland Elementary School.
School OverviewAlwin Holland Elementary serves a student population of over 200, with approximately 30 % Indigenous students. The school is an inner-city school characterized by considerable diversity.
Qualifications and Experience- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
- Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level
- Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet diverse student needs
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Experience, training, or knowledge of Social-Emotional Learning and ability to create a positive classroom community that supports safety, caring, and a sense of belonging
- Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
- Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan short-term and long-term instruction in consideration of class composition
- Willingness to work collaboratively with staff to enhance student learning
- Use of pro-active classroom-management practices that maintain student dignity
- Use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
- Three (3) references
- Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)
- $2,000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB, and Yukon and up to $4,000 for teachers from other areas
- $3,500 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
- Salary as per collective agreement; current salary grid is $72,
- Benefits as per collective agreement with options to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance (employer-paid based on FTE)
