Position: Dawson Creek Secondary School requires a 0.75 FTE TERM Learning Assistance Teacher
Location: Dawson Creek

Overview

Effective September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. This part‑time teaching position is located at South Peace Campus, a 600‑student secondary school serving grades 10–12. The successful applicant will be required to accept a salary increase if the school’s collective agreement necessitates it.

Responsibilities

Teach inclusive classrooms where students of all abilities feel valued, supported, and challenged. Focus on learner‑centered instruction, adapting curriculum to meet diverse needs, developing and implementing individualized learning plans, and managing classroom behavior. Collaborate with colleagues, reflect on practice, and continually improve instructional strategies to help every student succeed and thrive.

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate.
  • Successful completion of K‑12 teacher training and practicum or relevant evaluation documentation.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada.

  • Experience adapting and modifying curriculum to meet student needs.
  • Ability to develop individualized learning plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Experience working with students who display a variety of behaviors.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Willingness to implement school initiatives and goals.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies.
  • Experience teaching in a multiage group setting.
  • Engages in fair, student‑focused assessment practices consistent with the BC curriculum and reflects on evidence of learning to guide instruction.
Benefits
  • Relocation Allowance:
    Up to $5,000 for out‑of‑district applicants (upon submission of approved receipts).
  • Northern Travel Allowance:
    Up to $4,000 of the salary may be designated as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit per Revenue Canada guidelines.
  • Remote and Rural Allowance:
    Approximately $3,035 per full‑time equivalent for eligible teachers.
