Position: Practical Nursing Instructor (PNUR 235 Lab) 26:073A

Term of Appt: July 24 - October 9, 2026 (9 hrs/wk)

Start date: July 24, 2026

Location: Fort St. John, BC

Reporting to: Associate Dean of Health Sciences, Human Services, Quality Assurance

Salary

$45.60 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits on regular earnings, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day.

Description

NLC's Practical Nursing Program requires a temporary, full-time instructor to deliver PNUR 235:
Integrated Nursing Practice
3. This course builds on the theory and practice from Levels A (APN program) or Levels 1 and 2 (PN Program). Through a variety of approaches (e.g., simulation), learners will continue to develop knowledge and practice of comprehensive nursing assessment, planning for, and interventions for clients experiencing multiple health challenges in a variety of settings.

Students are in class from August 5 – October 9, 2026.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or another relevant undergraduate degree or professional qualification may be considered.
  • Current practicing license as an LPN, RPN, RN or NP with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives with no limits or conditions or another relevant professional license.
  • Minimum three to five years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian nursing experience.
  • Completed course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience as a nurse or health care professional.
  • A credential in adult education, such as the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or equivalent, or a willingness to enroll with an identified completion date.
