Position: REVISED** Temp FT (1.0) Primary Teacher (2026-27) **Signing Bonus Available

A temporary full‑time (1.0) Primary Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026. The assignment will be at Prespatou Elementary/Jr. Secondary School, a K‑12 school located about one hour drive from Fort St John. The school has a population of about 300 students and serves students from Prespatou and Buick Creek, many of whom speak Low German and Russian.

Educational services include English as a Second Language, Learning Assistance and Inclusion. The teaching team currently comprises 15 K‑12 teachers, 2 support educators and 4 support staff.

Transportation from the Board Office to Prespatou School may be available. Please contact the Principal for more information.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet diverse student needs
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and organization skills
  • Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning; demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community that is safe, caring, and healthy so every student feels belonging
  • Strong belief in inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
  • Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short‑term and long‑term in consideration of class composition
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff to enhance student learning
  • Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are proactive and maintain student dignity
  • Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
  • Driver's license and vehicle; experience with winter driving an asset
Required Application Materials

  • Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)
Compensation
  • $2,000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4,000 for teachers from other areas
  • $3,500 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on FTE)
  • Salary per collective agreement: $72,720 – $118,770
  • Benefits per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance; benefits employer‑paid based on FTE
  • Isolation allowance of $1,236.79 paid over 10 months
  • $5,000 signing bonus (one‑time lump sum taxable payment to be paid no later than first paycheck)
