Position: Dawson Creek Secondary School requires a 1.0 FTE TERM Teacher
Location: Dawson Creek

Effective September 1, 2026 to May 27, 2027.

Position:
Teacher of Science courses (Science 10, Life Science 11, Chemistry 11, Science for Citizens 11, Anatomy and Physiology 12) at Dawson Creek Secondary School (South Peace Campus).

Dawson Creek Secondary School is a public high school serving approximately 600 students in Grades 10–12. It is part of School District No. 59.

As a teacher, you will design and deliver engaging instruction in the above science courses, create inclusive classrooms, collaborate with colleagues, and use research‑based practices to support student learning. You will also participate in school‑wide initiatives and contribute to a positive, restorative learning community.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or be qualified for one).
  • Successful completion of K‑12 teacher training and practicum or evaluation documentation.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • Ability to develop individualized learning plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Experience working with students who display a range of behaviours.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Commitment to individualized and group instruction using varied strategies and techniques.
  • Experience teaching in a multi‑age setting.
  • Engages in fair, student‑focused assessment practices aligned with the BC curriculum.
Benefits
  • Relocation Allowance:
    Up to $5,000 for out‑of‑district applicants (with approved receipts).
  • Northern Travel Allowance:
    Up to $4,000 of salary can be designated as a travel benefit under Canada Revenue Agency guidelines.
  • Remote and Rural Allowance:
    Approx. $3,035 per full‑time equivalent, prorated for part‑time staff.
  • Additional incentives up to $30,000 effective December 31, 2025 (details available through the district).
