Position Overview
A temporary full‑time Social Studies / History / Law Teacher position at North Peace Secondary School (NPSS), effective September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
ResponsibilitiesTeach Social Studies, History, and Law to secondary students, using inclusive teaching methods and differentiation to meet diverse needs. Plan and deliver curriculum aligned with the BC Curriculum, create a positive and safe classroom community, and apply proactive classroom and assessment management practices.
Qualifications and Experience- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible).
- Demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the secondary level.
- Experience with universal design and differentiation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organization skills.
- Knowledge of Social Emotional Learning and ability to create a positive classroom community.
- Strong belief in inclusion and supporting all students.
- Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan short‑term and long‑term instruction.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with staff to enhance student learning.
- Use of proactive classroom management practices that maintain student dignity.
- Use of assessment practices that promote learning and maintain student dignity.
- Knowledge of SEL supports.
- Knowledge of AFL practices.
- Three references.
- Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate).
- Relocation allowance of $2,000 for teachers from BC, AB, and Yukon and up to $4,000 for teachers from other areas.
- Recruitment allowance of $3,500 (paid over 10 months of the school year).
- Salary per collective agreement: $72,720 - $118,770.
- Benefits per collective agreement: medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance (employer paid based on FTE).
