Position: Itinerant Literacy Teaching Role

Join School District No. 59 as an Itinerant Primary Literacy Teacher, focusing on enhancing literacy for students in Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, and Dawson Creek starting September 2026. This position emphasizes proven literacy strategies and dynamic teaching.

You will be tasked with supporting K-3 educators by implementing effective literacy practices, assessing reading levels, and facilitating professional development workshops. With a Master’s degree in literacy or equivalent experience, you will travel weekly across schools and actively engage with students and teachers alike. A BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate and a flexible schedule are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct weekly travel to multiple schools for literacy help

• Lead classroom literacy assessments and provide interventions

• Organize and deliver professional learning workshops

• Collaborate on curriculum adjustments for diverse learners

• Mentor Literacy Resource Teachers in schools

Requirements:

• Master’s degree focused on literacy education

• Valid driver's license and personal vehicle for travel

• At least 3-5 years of successful literacy teaching

• Experience in modifying curriculum to meet student needs

• Strong collaborative and independent working skills
