Position: CLK 09R - Operations Assistant
Location: Dawson Creek

The Team

The Dawson Creek Fire Zone is an established, family‑oriented team that works across two fire base locations in Chetwynd and Dawson Creek. The team includes six Initial Attack Crews and eight single‑resource positions—32 people in total—and collaborates closely with the Zone Wildfire Coordination Officer and local staff. Together, they play an important role in wildfire suppression and management, supporting each other in a diverse, respectful, and inclusive work environment.

The Role

The Operations Assistant provides essential administrative and clerical support to the Dawson Creek Fire Zone, helping the team work efficiently and stay organized. This role supports wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities, contributing to safer and more resilient communities across the Dawson Creek area and the Prince George Region. Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Experience working in an office setting
  • Valid Class 5 or 7 driver licence

Preference may be given to candidates with the following experience:

  • Working in government
  • With heavy equipment
  • Working with contracts
  • Working Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and One Note
  • In natural resource or forestry work environments
  • In client service roles
Provisos / Willingness statement(s)
  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures
  • To keep current on emerging issues
  • To take in‑house training and certification as required
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required
  • To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
  • To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required
  • To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned
  • To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions

About this Position

This position has full time on‑site requirements. This temporary (auxiliary) opportunity starts March 9th and ends October 24th, with possibility of recall on a yearly basis. An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
