Salary: $83,312.49 – $94,991.51 – Permanent Full-Time, based on a 35-hour work week. An additional 10.75% Job Family Market Multiplier will be added to the posted salary. An additional 3% Location Allowance will be added to posted salary for employees based in northern location.
About the JobThe Environmental Management Specialist (Specialist) supports the BCER’s role respecting protection of the environment by conducting work related to the management of environmental values for air, land, soil, water, wildlife, and/or aquatic habitat. The Specialist’s work includes consideration of cumulative effects and restoration, in the context of the BCER’s regulatory mandate.
Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Support, the Specialist works to support the Responsible Stewardship Branch and other BCER branches. The Specialist will conduct data synthesis or interpretation, support research and data collection, develop and deliver communications, conduct field activities, and support the development of internal procedures and technical guidance documentation.
The Specialist will work in a learning environment to build technical skills in topic areas related to assigned work or to meet professional development needs.
Job FocusThis competition is being used to fill three Environmental Management Specialist positions within the Environmental & Subsurface Resource Management Department. While all positions share the same classification and core accountabilities, successful candidates will be assigned to one of the following program areas:
- Hydrometric Monitoring Focus – supporting the collection, management, and interpretation of hydrometric and environmental monitoring data. This position is based in Fort St. John.
- Biology Focus – supporting BCER subject matter experts with wildlife act permitting, legacy well site investigations, habitat assessments and application reviews. This position is based in Fort St. John.
- Waste Discharge Focus – supporting discharge permitting, compliance, data management, and technical review activities related to waste discharge authorizations under the Environmental Management Act. This position may be based in any BC Energy Regulator office.
