In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position provides pharmacy services to patients in Northern Health. As a member of an interprofessional team, this position assesses and recommends individualized treatments. Acts as the primary resource for drug information, education and provides expert advice to health care professionals. Monitors drug prescribing, drug distribution and drug therapy to ensure safe, effective, rational, legal and economic use of drugs.

Maintains workload records and statistics.

Dawson Creek & District Hospital Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical centre for the Northeast Region of BC. Services include:

• Emergency

• ICU

• Day Surgery

• Respiratory Therapy

• Primary Care

• Acute Care

• Diagnostic Imaging

• Laboratory
Visiting specialists including:

• Urology

• Dermatology

• Pediatrics

• Obstetrics and Gynecology

Qualfications

• Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy and current licensure with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program or a combination of at least one year of hospital experience and advanced education courses. Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists is encouraged.

Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.

• Teaching:
Ability to teach patients and others both one-on-one and in groups.

Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.

• Communication:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, the public, medical staff and members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, computer communication means. Ability to effectively apply conflict resolution skills.
