Labourer - Summer Student

ROLE
Surerus is looking to hire a Labourer to support operations over the summer in our Fort St John location. You'll be responsible for general support on a variety of tasks within the Fort St John Shop and Yard.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Comply with Surerus Safety practices and procedures

Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment

Assist tradespeople and machine operators as needed

Perform various general labour activities, such as:

Housekeeping in and around the shop and yard

Clean up of garbage and debris as required

Manual material handling

Operator lawn mowers and whipper snippers

Operate hand and power tools

Note:

In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications

High School diploma completed, or in progress

Eligible to work in Canada

Between ages of 17 and 24

Reliable transportation to and from work

Experience

Previous experience in general labour within an equipment repair facility is an asset.

Skills & Knowledge

Self-starter, with problem solving skills and adaptability.

Ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks

Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team

Safety conscious and aware of job site protocols

Punctual with a strong work ethic

Excellent communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based in our Fort St John shop and yard. Must be able to work 8 – 10 hour days, 5 days a week.

Successful completion of a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol test is required as a condition of employment. Steel-toed boots are required for this position.

COMPENSATION
The hourly rate for this position is between $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, dependent on the candidate’s skills and experience.
