Position: REGISTERED NURSE (RN), Y-STAR

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Northern Health. Under the general supervision of Manager or designate, and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards, the Registered Nurse works as a therapist and case manager to provide clinical services to youth in the Youth Short Term Assessment and Response (Y-STAR) Program, including assessment, planning, treatment, consultation and follow‑up.

The role works in settings such as street‑based, school, and community settings, providing mental health and substance use services aimed at maintaining clients in the community and enhancing youth treatment plans through regular and supportive contact. The nurse partners with youth, caregivers, facility managers and community agencies and participates in program development, policy recommendations, research and evaluation, and community education.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a RN with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two years of recent, related experience in a community or hospital psychiatric setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate level

  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle if required.

  • Leadership – Promotes staff morale, cooperation, and innovation, and supports professional development.
  • Knowledge Integration – Uses evidence‑based information to support decisions and integrates best practice from nursing and related disciplines.
  • Technical – Ability to operate related equipment and relevant computer applications.
  • Physical – Ability to perform the duties of the position.
