Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Dawson Creek & District Hospital.

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for identifying, planning, compiling and delivering training sessions for staff to assist them in meeting their key competencies in compliance with scope. This includes compiling, implementing and evaluating general and unit specific orientation and education programs. The CNE facilitates the development and ongoing maintenance of the department’s preceptorship and mentorship programs, participates in the ongoing review and revision of patient care standards, policies and procedures, and coordinates in‑service programs aimed at meeting the continuing educational needs of staff.

Wednesday – Thursday with alternate Fridays, days, 08:00 to 16:00.

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing plus three years’ recent related experience and two years’ formal experience in adult teaching/learning and curriculum development; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Three to five years’ experience in area of clinical focus, including a minimum of 3 years of recent experience on a maternity/LDR unit (within the last 5 years).
• Current CPR Certification.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.
• Current practicing registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives.

• Teaching – Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well‑being.
• Assessment and Intervention – Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety‑type interventions.
• Technical – Ability to operate related equipment including proven ability to utilize computer technology.
• Physical – Ability to perform the duties of the position.
