Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Dawson Creek & District Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities Northern Health, the Clinical Nurse Educator practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), as well as within a person and family centered care model.

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for identifying, planning, compiling and delivering training sessions for staff to assist them in meeting their key competencies in compliance with scope. Compiles, implements and evaluates general and unit specific Orientation and Education programs for the staff. Facilitates the development and ongoing maintenance of the department’s preceptorship/mentorship programs. Participates in the on-going review and revision of patient care standards, policies and procedures and coordinates the in-service programs aimed at meeting the continuing educational needs of staff.

Successful applicant must have a minimum of 3 years of recent experience on a maternity/LDR unit (within last 5 years). Candidates are to submit a current resume.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Wednesday
-Thursday with alternate Fridays, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

Dawson Creek & District Hospital

Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical centre for the Northeast Region of BC. Services include:

Construction is underway on the new Dawson Creek & District Hospital, anticipated to open in Spring 2027. This state-of-the-art facility will be over 50% bigger than the current hospital and will feature 70 beds, modern patient care spaces, and expanded and enhanced services to meet the growing needs of the community. Designed with innovation and comfort in mind, the new hospital represents a transformative step forward in health care for the region.

Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000.
