Field Archaeologist

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise archaeological field assessments
• Identify, record, and catalog archaeological and traditional use sites
• Conduct preliminary and post-impact reconnaissance and impact assessments
• Uphold robust health and safety standards
• Support project coordination and delivery
• Liaise professionally with First Nations
• Mentor and oversee junior field staff

• Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
• 3+ years of archaeological field experience (BC and/or Alberta)
• Proven experience leading field programs
• First Aid & H2S certification
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
• Strong physical fitness and comfort working in remote environments
• Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident

• GPS / GIS familiarity
• Lithic analysis and site cataloging experience
• ATV / UTV operation
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team

• Seasonal weekend and holiday work
• Long field days (often 10+ km walking)
