Location: Dawson CreekPosition Summary: Under the general direction of the Security Manager or designate, the Surveillance Operator position is responsible for daily monitoring and observation of Casino operations, while ensuring the security and integrity of Casino assets, staff and guests. A Surveillance Operator ensures adherence to the company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian Gaming’s learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Surveillance Operators will also conduct routine checks of the gaming floor and act as a support to other gaming departments in relation to the protection of company assets. Attention to detail and sound observation skills are critical when conducting reviews, writing and completing reports and logs that could be used for evidence in legal proceedings. In this role, one must enforce and comply with Alcohol and Gaming Commission and OLG standards.
Key Accountabilities:
Monitoring, documenting and reporting internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities; prepares electronic statements via a non-gaming record keeping systemEnforcing restricted access by unauthorized personsObserving cashier transactions, slot drops, chip/hopper fills and transfers; escorts cash and cash equivalent movementsTagging and reporting found property; transferring items to Lost and FoundConducting regular patrols of the facility interior and exterior as directedEscorting guests and employees as directedPerforming identification checks as requiredReferring disputes to the Supervisor, SecurityMonitors, documents and reports procedural violations, large cash/cash equivalents transactions, excluded and self-excluded guests and unauthorized access; reports violations to the supervisorMust be proficient with computersMust be reliable and diligent, while maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentialityMaintains accurate and concise logs and recordsInvestigative skills required to report and document all irregular, unusual, suspicious and/or illegal activitiesPossesses strong communication skills to effectively deal with all appropriate operational departmentsEnsures health and safety directives are followed, as well as, other statutory regulationsPerforms other duties as assigned or directedEnsures compliance with Alcohol and Gaming Commission regulation, as well as, all applicable laws, policies and procedures.Ability to work all shifts (This includes evenings, weekends and holidays)Knowledge of gaming industry considered an assetAbility to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communicationEducational and Functional Requirements:
You must be able to work on an as needed or when needed basis (hours may vary depending on operational needs) in a variety of shifts including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, graveyards and weekends as we operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.High School Diploma or equivalentPrevious security experience an asset but not requiredGaming Security Officer (GSO) course an assetSecurity Guard Licence is an assetCan understand, speak and write English; fluency in other languages an assetExceptional interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at one timeAbility to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communicationThe ability to successfully obtain a Criminal Record Check through the Independent Gambling Control Officer (IGCO)A commitment to continually increase your knowledge of our products and services in order to offer exceptional experiences to our guestsKnowledge of computer applications – MS Word, Excel, Access, Power PointTraining and certifications as required
