Social Services Worker Diploma Instructor

Term of App't: Regular, Part time (15 hours per week)

Reporting to: Dean of Health Sciences & Human Services

Salary: $37,309.00 – $44,268.00 annual starting wage, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement (annual increments up to a maximum salary of $57,000.50). Vacation entitlement is 120 hours annually (pro-rated and front-loaded from hire date for current year). We offer paid time off between Christmas and New Years, and an excellent extended health and dental package.

There is an opportunity to enroll in the College Pension Plan with contributions matched by the employer.

The Social Services Worker Diploma (SSWD) program provides opportunities for students to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and qualifications to enable them to work in a human services worker field. The program involves two years of full-time study, with a combination of practice, theory, and academic course requirements aimed at preparing students to become critical practitioners with an emphasis on advocacy, social justice, and social change.

The successful candidate will instruct courses in the Social Services Worker Diploma program for students on the Dawson Creek Campus. The instructor will also be a program representative and liaison in the community of Dawson Creek and beyond. Instruction to be provided using a multitude of delivery modalities.

This position may be required to travel to our Fort St John campus when needed.

Required

• Bachelor's degree in social work or social services, with a master's degree in a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of five years of experience in a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to student motivation and achievement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to the College environment.

Preferred

• Master's degree in social work.
• Registered Social Worker (RSW) designation in British Columbia.
• Post-secondary teaching experience.
• Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and teaching through multiple delivery modalities.
• Professional experience in the social service field within rural and remote settings.
• Experience teaching a culturally diverse student population, including Indigenous and international students.
