In this important position, the Indigenous Youth Care Worker (IYCW) is essential for assisting Indigenous students. You will deliver academic and socio-emotional support, promote Indigenous healing practices, and liaise with families and the community. Collaboration with educational staff is key to fostering a successful learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain student self-identification records
• Deliver motivation and encouragement to students
• Act as a liaison between school and Indigenous communities
• Facilitate culturally relevant student activities
• Provide crisis intervention and employ conflict resolution strategies
Requirements:
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Two years of relevant college education
• Experience working with youth and behavioral challenges
• Clean driver’s abstract and Class 5 B.C. license
• Commitment to Indigenous cultural practices
Support Indigenous students’ journey by enhancing their educational experiences through tailored care and understanding.
