Job SummarySan Mateo‑Foster City School District is accepting applications for our Para Educator II Exceptional Children Pool (teacher assistants) in special‑needs classrooms. Under general supervision, the role provides specialized instructional, behavioral, physical, and medical assistance to exceptional students with severe handicaps; operates a specialized learning center for special‑needs students; supports instructional record‑keeping; performs routine clerical duties; and performs related work as required.
Assist students in toileting and personal hygiene, change soiled clothing, and remind students to use the bathroom.
- Provide specialized instructional, behavioral, physical, and medical assistance to exceptional students.
- Operate a specialized learning center for special‑needs students.
- Support instructional record‑keeping and perform routine clerical duties.
- Assist students with toileting, personal hygiene, and clothing changes.
- Perform related duties as required.
- High school diploma or higher. Proof of graduation required.
- CPR Certificate and First Aid required.
- Reading, math, and writing test required unless waived based on prior education or experience.
- Associate degree or higher may qualify for a test waiver if proven.
- Ability to work 6.5 hours per day in one or more settings (District Office, Nursing Department, or various sites).
- Salary: $24.45–$31.20 per hour.
- 10 paid sick days; 14 paid holidays; district contribution toward medical/dental.
