Mechanical Engineer

Position

Mechanical Engineer (Full‑time Contract) at Hire Art
, Foster City, CA.

Expected $60.00 per hour.

• Partner with cross‑functional teams to drive serviceability (design for serviceability).
• Evaluate part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction, for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement of all components.
• Develop a service part release strategy and maintain the service BOM for spare parts planning.
• Work closely with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.
• Identify the need for specialized tooling. Guide the special tooling team for design ideation and development of the tool.
• Participate in requirements definition as it pertains to service, availability of the product, and reliability.
• Provide comprehensive cost/time modeling that showcases opportunities to drive product change and supports the reduction of cost or complexity of the repair.
• Work with the technical writing team to establish the repair process.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5‑6 years of experience in service engineering, grounded in mechanical engineering within product design and manufacturing environments.
• Experience with sensors, cameras, or compute systems.
• Proven ability to identify and implement product design and service process improvements.
• Experience designing and developing products through the lifecycle.
• Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with product and process validation.
• Tooling and/or equipment design experience.
• Detail‑oriented, with strong documentation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage projects independently.

• CAD experience; CATIA is a plus.
• Automotive background.

Full‑time ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
