Position Details

Sr. CAD Engineer

Location:

Foster City, CA
Pay Range: $70 - $80/hr.
Duration: 6 months

• Advanced CATIA modeling and parametric design expertise to create robust, fully modifiable CAD models
• Deep knowledge of plastic and/or metallic part design with manufacturing process understanding and ability to propose the right technology
• Proficiency in GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drawing standards, including tolerance stack-ups and production-ready designs

• Design Changes – CAD model modifications with guidance from part owner.
• Design Iterations – CAD development and maturation, interactive with the part owner.
• Clean Sheet Modeling – Schematics and initial design iterations, interactive with the part owner.
• Drawing Updates / Changes – Closing the loop relative to CAD work scope prior to checking submission or corrections within the checking process, with the Part/Assembly owner and/or Dimensional team.
• Drawing Preparation / Completion – Clean sheet drawing preparation, ideally under the Dimensional team’s guidance to minimize corrective actions.
• Standard Model Library Content Generation – Generate models (dog houses, ribs, in-mould clips, swages, etc.) that are fully parametric and easily modified to suit variable applications.
• Assisting the Package Team – Generate CAD for mock-ups, bucks, restriction geometry, criteria, master sections, packaging/black box volumes, under guidance from Package Layout/Studio responsible engineer.

• CATIA specialist, conversant in generating fully parametric solids (boolean/sketch).
• Strong knowledge of plastic or metallic (or both) part design, including various manufacturing processes, and able to propose the right technology for a given application/circumstance.
• Able to create robust designs including part attachment and datum systems.
• Able to conduct basic tolerance stack-ups.
• Understanding of Mechatronics System mechanical integration requirements / Development of PCBA interface.
• Industrialize Class-A Design Surface data.
• Generation/modification of drawing content using ASME Y14.5 standard; well-versed in GD&T.
• Able to conduct design reviews with applicable engineer/s.
• Catia V6 preferred.
• 3DX conversant.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, JIRA.
• Customer-focused, able to work flexible hours to support work when needed.

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate or annual salary only, unless otherwise stated.
