Our client is seeking a CAD Modeller (CAD Support Team) to support ongoing design development, iteration, and documentation across multiple mechanical systems. In this role, you’ll collaborate with part owners, dimensional engineering, and packaging teams to deliver high-quality CAD models, drawings, and design documentation.
You’ll support the full design cycle, from clean-sheet concepts to drawing release and standard library development. The ideal candidate brings deep CATIA expertise, strong part-design fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate closely with part owners, dimensional engineering, and packaging teams.
Key Responsibilities- Perform CAD model modifications and design changes under the direction of the part owner.
- Drive CAD design iteration and maturation in coordination with part owners and engineering stakeholders.
- Execute clean-sheet modeling, schematics, and early design iterations to develop robust, fully parametric geometry.
- Prepare and update drawings, including revisions based on checking feedback or dimensional engineering guidance.
- Create new drawings from clean-sheet designs under the dimensional team’s direction to minimize corrective actions.
- Populate and maintain standard model library content (e.g., doghouses, ribs, in-mold clips, swages), ensuring all geometry is fully parametric and easily modifiable.
- Support packaging teams by generating CAD for mock-ups, bucks, restriction geometry, criteria, master sections, and black-box volumes.
- Conduct basic tolerance stack-ups and propose attachment strategies and datum systems.
- Integrate mechanical components with mechatronic systems and PCBA interface requirements.
- Generate and modify drawing content in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards and GD&T best practices.
- Participate in design reviews with part owners and cross-functional engineering teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- CATIA specialist with the ability to generate fully parametric solid models (sketch-based and boolean modeling).
- Strong knowledge of plastic and/or metallic part design, including relevant manufacturing processes, with the ability to recommend appropriate technologies for specific applications.
- Experience designing robust parts, including attachment strategies and datum systems.
- Ability to perform basic tolerance stack-up analyses.
- Understanding of mechatronic system mechanical integration and PCBA interface development.
- Proficiency in generating and modifying drawings per ASME Y14.5 standards; strong working knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience participating in and contributing to design reviews with engineering stakeholders.
- CATIA V6 preferred; familiarity with 3
DEXPERIENCE (3DX) environments. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and JIRA.
- Customer-focused mindset with flexibility to support work across time zones or extended hours when needed.
