Our client, a leader in the automotive and hardware engineering industry, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Automotive Safety Engineer to join their innovative team. As an Automotive Safety Engineer, you will be part of the Advanced Hardware Engineering department supporting systems and functional safety teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, collaborative spirit, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Automotive Safety Engineer

Location: Foster City, CA

Pay Range: $86 per hour

What’s the Job?
  • Support systems and functional safety teams by performing Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) on system and sub‑system level architecture.
  • Delve into board and component level diagnostics to ensure hardware functionality and diagnostic coverage.
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineers and design teams to understand hardware requirements and capabilities.
  • Develop and review test plans for verification of functional and fault injection tests on advanced compute and sensor hardware.
  • Analyze vendor documentation for complex SOCs and microprocessors to identify diagnostic capabilities and safety features.
What’s Needed?
  • B.S. or higher degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Robotics Engineering.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 or other safety standards.
  • 6+ years of experience performing Board Level FMEDA and understanding SOC FMEDA.
  • Strong collaboration skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience working with safety‑critical hardware and developing requirements for fault injection testing.
