Job Title
Hardware Engineer, Test Development
Location: Foster City, CA (Onsite)
Pay Range: $68 - $78/hr
Duration: 6 months
Top 3 Skills- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in electronics development, with hands-on testing of electronic, automotive, aerospace, or vehicle components.
- Proficiency operating and interpreting data from lab/test equipment, including oscilloscopes, VNAs, environmental chambers, e-loads, TDRs, and spectrum analyzers.
- Strong experience with design and development tools, including PCBA design (Altium preferred), 3D modeling (3DExperience or CATIA preferred), and scripting/testing using Ubuntu and Python.
As a hardware engineer, you will be responsible for developing, documenting, and executing component- and system-level hardware testing. You will collaborate with suppliers, design engineers, and system engineers to characterize the functional performance of sensing and compute hardware. You will handle development testing on early prototypes as well as qualification testing on modules intended for vehicle use. Projects range from interface compliance testing to developing purpose-built tools.

- Test Execution
- Operate oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and other electrical/environmental test equipment
- Develop test setups, including block diagrams, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and test plans
- Test Infrastructure Development
- Build custom test assets such as load simulators, test harnesses, and Python scripts
- Facilitate test infrastructure projects by collaborating with procurement and suppliers
- Documentation
- Draft and present Test Plans, Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Data Reviews
- Review and consult on documentation releases for standards, design, and risk assessments
Required:
- B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- 4+ years of professional, relevant work experience
- 2+ years in electronics development
- Experience testing electronic, automotive, aerospace, or vehicle components
- Experience with design tools:
- PCBA:
Altium (preferred) - 3D Modeling: 3DExperience or CATIA (preferred)
- PCBA:
- Proficiency with lab equipment:
Environmental Chambers, Oscilloscopes, E-loads, VNAs, TDR, Spectrum Analyzer - Experience with Ubuntu and Python

Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering or related discipline
- Participation in team/club competitions (e.g., SAE, FIRST, DARPA)
- Foundational knowledge in systems and networking (systems architecture, memory hierarchy, storage subsystems, LANs, routing)
- Experience with:
- Ethernet switching chipsets (Broadcom, Marvell), PCIe, CAN Compliance
- Simulation tools (Ansys preferred)
- Common bus protocols (SPI, I2C, MDIO)
- Familiarity with tools/processes:
- Data Acquisition systems (UEI and/or Keysight preferred)
- Requirement-Test Case management tools (Polarion preferred)
- Atlassian software products (Jira/Confluence)
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate or annual salary only, unless otherwise stated.
