Expected compensation: 75.00 - 80.00 USD Per Hour.

Hire Art is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find an experienced Endpoint Administrator (Linux) to support the rollout and ongoing maintenance of the Linux desktop fleet, with a focus on configuration management, automation, and fleet operations.

This role requires 3 days per week onsite in Foster City, CA, and it is available to candidates who are local to the Bay Area.

• Perform Linux system installation, configuration, patching, and ongoing maintenance across physical and virtual desktops.
• Implement and maintain Salt Stack configurations to enforce system baselines and automate repeatable tasks.
• Contribute to sprint-based engineering efforts focused on endpoint reliability, compliance, and lifecycle management.
• Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across a large fleet of Linux systems.
• Execute operational procedures for OS/software updates, re‑imaging, and break/fix scenarios.
• Participate in change management processes and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers and IT support teams to ensure endpoint compliance and functionality.

• 6+ years of experience supporting large-scale Linux desktop environments in production settings.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Ubuntu/Debian Linux, including imaging, patching, and support.
• Proficient in configuration management tools such as Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Experience writing scripts in Bash and/or Python to automate common system tasks.
• Familiarity with sprint-based or agile project work.
• Experience with tools like Jira for task and incident tracking.
• Clear communicator with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
• Must be local to the Bay Area and able to work onsite at Foster City HQ at least 3 days per week.

• Experience supporting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments.
• Familiarity with VMware‑based VDI platforms and management tools.
