Animal Care Technician I

Salary range: $23 – 25 USD per hour (based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location).
Job SummaryWe are seeking an Animal Care Technician I (rodent facility) to join our Insourcing Solutions team. As the technician, you will monitor daily animal health and welfare, perform daily health observations, and complete animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of research animals. This role will be based in Foster City, CA and is part of our Insourcing Solutions team which delivers operational efficiencies for GMP, GLP, and non‑GLP research services.
Responsibilities- Perform daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks.
- Provide appropriate food and water.
- Perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning.
- Record animal health concerns per SOP and or specified protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas.
- Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species.
- Strictly follow all procedures necessary to maintain animal housing areas or semi‑rigid isolator environments, including personnel protective equipment use and cleaning protocols.
- Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals.
- Provide care for sentinel animals in each rodent housing area.
- Participate in breeding and weaning procedures to ensure appropriate production levels.
- Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines.
- Perform general housekeeping.
- High school diploma (HSD) or general education degree (GED).
- Six to twelve months related experience in rodent animal husbandry is required.
