Certified Medical Assistant

Overview

Certified Medical Assistant role at Western Capital Resources Inc. Provides general care to patients in emergency room, inpatient, and clinic settings by performing the duties outlined below.

• Able to check in, schedule and expedite discharge of patients. Explain procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation and understanding.
• Administers prescribed injectable medications and treatments in accordance with approved techniques.
• Prepare equipment and aid physicians and nurses during treatment and examination of patients.
• Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients; perform in a positive and professional manner.
• Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or physician of patient status and reactions to drugs or treatments.
• Take vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure) and assess condition; able to draw blood, perform EKGs, and splinting as directed.
• Respond to life-saving situations following medical standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
• Document medical history and medication reconciliation for assigned patients.
• Assist in patient education plans according to individualized needs, including patient and family instruction where prescribed.
• Rotate among clinical services (clinic, emergency, inpatient, orthopedics, pediatrics, psychiatry, etc.).
• Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgery.
• Assist in procedures by handing items to the surgeon, obstetrician, or other medical practitioners and nurses.
• Turn over rooms and assist in minor cleaning required for facility.
• Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.

• Education/
  
  Experience:
  
  Certified Medical Assistant with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
• Language Ability:
  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common medical regulations, reports, journals and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and community members.
• Math Ability:
  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Reasoning Ability:
  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret a wide variety of technical instructions and handle several abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer
  
  Skills:
  
  Basic computer knowledge and EMR navigation experience. Paycor/Evident experience a plus.
• Certificates and Licenses:
  Arizona State Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; BLS;
  Phlebotomy and EKG experience and certification preferred.
• Supervisory Responsibilities:
