. Fountain Hills Medical Center is a brand new Micro Hospital set to open early 2021 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Encompassing 8 ER beds and 5 inpatient beds, FHMC will also have full imaging and lab functionality. We are seeking ER Nurses who value knowledge, autonomy, teamwork, and patient- and family-centered care.
Summary: Provides general ER nursing care to patients in emergency room facility by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
- Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
- Rotates among various clinical services of the institution such as obstetrics, surgery, orthopedics, outpatient and admitting, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
- Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgery.
- Assists in procedures by handing items to Surgeon, Obstetrician, or other medical practitioner.
- Makes beds, baths and feeds patients.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; two years related ER experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to triage utilizing the Emergency Severity Index. - Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common medical regulations, reports, journals and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the community.
- Math Ability: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer
Skills:
Basic Computer Knowledge, EMR. - Certificates and Licenses: Active AZ or Compact State RN License, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC
