Directs, consults, plans, implements, and evaluates comprehensive services and programs that enrich student life through educational and co‑curricular experiences, student leadership opportunities, and cultural education. Develops and implements support structures, systems, and services that promote student access, participation, engagement, development, and success.

Distinguishing Career Features

The Program Director, Student Leadership, Engagement, and Global Citizenship serves in a specialized leadership capacity over services designed to enrich student life, promote student engagement, facilitate student development, increase student retention, and support campus participation. The role requires competency in designing, developing, and implementing culturally sensitive programs that build the student community and optimize participation. The Director works closely with district and school administrators, students, community members, governing boards, and foundations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directs and integrates a complete network of co‑curricular events, including identifying opportunities, planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating programs.
  • Conducts needs assessments and works with leadership to identify and provide support services that respond to student needs.
  • Directs and promotes student activities, events, clubs, and organizations, including identity development and advocacy programs.
  • Oversees design and publication of informational materials such as activity calendars, outreach calendars, student news, promotional materials, and press releases.
  • Designs and implements strategies and programs that facilitate student access, participation, and success for at‑risk, low‑income, and underserved student populations.
  • Champions recruitment and enrollment efforts, including outreach to at‑risk and underserved populations.
  • Develops student leadership development programs and activities.
  • Provides oversight of Associated Student Government.
  • Negotiates and oversees vendors, speakers, performers, and contracts for student events and activities.
  • Develops service expectations, budgets, and cash‑handling controls, and supervises assigned personnel.
  • Determines, oversees, delegates, and reviews work assignments and projects; evaluates outcomes; establishes timelines and priorities.
  • Develops procedures and guidelines for programs, events, activities, and student organizations; interprets student policies; monitors compliance.
  • Prepares and submits statistical and narrative reports; analyzes data on effective methods; maintains databases and websites; coordinates audits; assists with federal, state, and local reports.
  • Develops and recommends policies, procedures, and guidelines to sustain initiatives.
  • Maintains liaison relationships with Region VIII colleagues; attends relevant meetings and conferences.
  • Builds relationships with business, labor, industry, governmental agencies, and community organizations.
  • Collaborates with other departments to deliver a robust student life experience.
  • Serves as lead for the college’s Commencement and Scholarship ceremonies.
