Per Diem‑Emergency Trauma Technician – Emergency Room – Days
UC Irvine is seeking an emergency department technician to work in a high‑volume, 24‑hour trauma setting. The role functions semi‑independently under the direction of a medical provider or registered nurse and provides comprehensive, accurate patient care in an fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities- Assist in patient assessment, triage and emergency management of trauma and medical emergencies.
- Perform pre‑hospital care tasks including airway management, CPR, and emergency medical techniques.
- Obtain and maintain emergency medical technology certification and actively pursue additional clinical competencies.
- Follow department standards and protocols while working independently or in collaboration with other health‑care team members.
- Maintain effective working relationships with patients, families and public while demonstrating professionalism and compassion.
- Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
- Current Phlebotomy license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Demonstrated customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume emergency department environment.
