Position OverviewFountain-Fort Carson High School is seeking a motivated and highly qualified Army JROTC Army Instructor (AI) to join our established and dynamic JROTC program. The ideal candidate will bring strong instructional ability, a commitment to developing cadets into responsible citizens, and specialized experience in marksmanship coaching
—with a particular focus on CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) standards, safety protocols, and competition preparation
. This position is a critical part of our JROTC leadership team and offers the opportunity to directly influence cadet development, team excellence, and program growth within one of the most active districts in Colorado.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and mentorship skills.
- Experience as a JROTC Instructor or similar leadership/teaching role.
- Demonstrated expertise in 10‑meter air rifle marksmanship, especially in precision and sporter‑class coaching.
- Familiarity with CMP rules and range safety.
- Familiarity with JROTC Marksmanship Safety Course requirements.
- Familiarity with running competitive marksmanship teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a structured school environment.
- Noncommissioned Officers (E‑6 to E‑9) who meet the following criteria may apply: separated or retired within the past 5 years with at least 8 years of cumulative honorable service; must meet all U.S. Army Cadet Command prerequisites for employment as an Army Instructor and pass District 8 hiring requirements, including background checks.
- Warrant Officers (W‑1 to W‑5) who meet the following prerequisites may apply: separated or retired within the past 5 years with at least 8 years of cumulative honorable service; must meet all U.S. Army Cadet Command prerequisites for employment as an Army Instructor and pass District 8 hiring requirements, including background checks.
- Applicants are expected to mentor extra‑curricular activities such as a Drill/Color Guard/Cyber Patriot/Military Fitness teams, support community service activities, and participate in local/regional/national competitions.
- Teach and mentor cadets following the U.S. Army Cadet Command curriculum.
- Support the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) in all aspects of program administration, planning, and instruction.
- Assist with other co‑curricular teams (Raider, Drill, Leadership, Academic) as needed.
- Lead, train, and coach the JROTC Marksmanship Team, including:
- Conducting safe and effective marksmanship training.
- Maintaining compliance with CMP safety and competition regulations.
- Coordinating practice schedules, equipment accountability, and team travel.
- Preparing cadets for local, regional, and national air rifle competitions.
- Supervise cadets during school, community service, and co‑curricular events.
- Maintain accountability of JROTC equipment, uniforms, arms room, and range facilities.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages discipline, teamwork, respect, and academic success.
- Collaborate with school administration, district leadership, parents, and community partners.

JROTC Instructors are paid their Military Instructor Pay (MIP).
