Position SummaryThe Physician Supervisor (Associate Medical Director) is responsible for providing professional medical services to patients in accordance with standards of practice in Corrections and community standards, as well as the Bureau of Health Services Policies, Procedures, and Standards. The Associate Medical Director attends to the medical needs of patients, diagnoses and treats illness and injuries, and arranges for professional consultation when warranted.
In conjunction with the Health Service Manager, they supervise the development and implementation of treatment protocols and patient workflows. This position supervises physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners at designated regional institutions. The Associate Medical Director meets as needed with a multidisciplinary team—including Health Services Managers, Assistant Directors of Nursing, Wardens, Psychological Services, Security, Medical Director, and others—to formulate and implement medical policies, operational procedures, and workflows at the unit level.
Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 50-51 with base pay starting from $97.78/hour - $122.23/hour. Candidates with a Physician Board Certification are eligible for add‑on pay of up to $21.00/hour. This position also qualifies for additional add‑on pay of up to $7.00/hour for assuming supervisory duties. Pay rates on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Associate Medical Director will oversee Dodge Correctional Institution, Waupun Correctional Institution, Fox Lake Correctional Institution, John Burke Correctional Center, and Thompson Correctional Center. Travel is required as needed.
Qualifications- Providing direct care to patients (examinations, recommend treatment options, order lab work/treatments, etc.)
- Supervising, leading, and/or overseeing the work of others (e.g., training, advising, reviewing work, etc.)
