Entry‑Level Substation Electrical Engineer

OverviewWSP is recruiting an Entry‑Level Substation Electrical Engineer for the Power Delivery Substation Team. The role involves designing low to extra‑high‑voltage substations, supporting QA/QC, traveling as required, and adhering to WSP standards.
Responsibilities- Perform detailed design of low to extra‑high‑voltage substations, including one‑line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, station physical layouts, sections/elevations, cable and conduit plans, ground‑grid design, foundation plans, structural plans, control enclosure design, lightning protection, yard lighting, bills of materials, and site visits.
- Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.
- Learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex designs.
- Occasional travel.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making in line with WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Assist in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic additions.
- BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, preferably with a power option.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering.
- Strong command of English with good written and oral communication skills.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, and HR policies.
- 0–1 year(s) of experience.
- Three months or more relevant electrical engineering work experience (internship or co‑op).
- Knowledge of electrical utility substations and substation design.
- Engineer Intern certificate (EI) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Occasional travel.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $78,000 – $80,000.
