What will you do?
The Senior Engineer II serves as a technical leader responsible for the design, execution, and delivery of complex automation, control, and digital transformation projects within power generation and utility environments. This role provides technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams and is accountable for the successful implementation of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), plant control strategies, and operational technology solutions that improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and performance.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in power generation and utility operations, has successfully led complex automation and control system projects, and demonstrates deep expertise with DCS platforms such as Schneider Electric Foxboro. Experience with boiler and turbine control systems is highly desirable.
Technical Leadership- Lead the engineering, design, integration, and commissioning of complex automation and control system projects within power generation and utility facilities.
- Serve as the technical authority for DCS modernization, migration, upgrade, and lifecycle management initiatives.
- Develop and review control system architectures, functional specifications, control narratives, and detailed design documentation.
- Provide technical leadership throughout all project phases, including concept development, design, implementation, testing, startup, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, cybersecurity requirements, plant operational requirements, and safety regulations.
- Lead large-scale, multi-million-dollar automation and control projects from initiation through completion.
- Coordinate and direct cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, project management, cybersecurity, and external vendors.
- Manage technical scope, engineering schedules, project risks, and resource allocation.
- Drive effective issue resolution and decision-making across multiple stakeholders.
- Support proposal development, project estimation, technical risk assessments, and customer presentations.
- Engineer and implement DCS solutions with preference for Schneider Electric Foxboro systems.
- Develop control strategies, logic diagrams, HMI designs, alarm management philosophies, and sequence of operations.
- Lead factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), integrated system testing, and commissioning activities.
- Support plant optimization initiatives through advanced control, process automation, and performance monitoring solutions.
- Provide troubleshooting support for critical plant control and automation systems.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
- Foster collaboration across engineering disciplines, operations, maintenance, and project delivery teams.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, plant leadership, and executive stakeholders.
- Lead technical reviews and facilitate engineering design discussions.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
- 10+ years of engineering experience in industrial automation, process control, or power generation environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex control system and automation projects.
- Proven experience within power generation, utility, or energy infrastructure sectors.
- Experience leading technical teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project resources.
- Experience supporting plant startups, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting.
- Strong experience with Schneider Electric Foxboro DCS systems.
- Experience with distributed control systems, PLCs, SCADA, and industrial networking technologies.
- Knowledge of control system lifecycle management and modernization programs.
- Experience with control strategy development, process optimization, and advanced automation solutions.
- Understanding of industrial cybersecurity principles and requirements.
- Familiarity with power generation plant operations and utility infrastructure.
- Experience with boiler control systems.
- Experience with turbine control systems (steam and/or gas turbines).
