About Marie Philip School:

MPS enrolls nearly 200 deaf and hard of hearing students on our Framingham, MA campus in an ASL/English bilingual, bicultural educational model.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Overnight Residential Counselor will provide surveillance over a group of students in a residential setting just before, during and after sleeping periods until the first class begins or staff coverage. He/she may also monitor all residential activities, which support their residential students’ social, physical, intellectual, communication and emotional development.

SUPERVISOR: Residential Supervisor

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct supervision and support to the residential students.

Responsible for supporting, planning or maintaining the residential activities and independent living skills to meet identified individual residential student and/or programmatic needs.

Utilize databases to ensure all externally and internally required reports are complete, accurate, and implemented on schedule.

Work collaboratively with TLC colleagues to facilitate students’ educational, social, recreational and life skills activities within existing programs.

The hired candidate must be able to remain fully awake throughout the entire work shift. Napping and/or sleeping is strictly forbidden, whether on duty or on break.

Be accountable for the general supervision of residential students and to remain on duty during emergency situations.

Remain awake and alert in his/her assigned dormitory unless instructed otherwise by the Residential Supervisor, Residential Director and/or Director of Student Services .

Maintain residential program’s expectations including the school policies and procedures.

Assist TLC staff with coordinating other related activities as deemed appropriate.

May be delegated and trained to conduct medication administration or certain medical procedure responsibilities for students.

May be required to drive students on field trips and/or to mainstreaming classes. Additional driving responsibilities as needed.

Some lifting may be required when working with young students or students with special needs, however, TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit of inclusion and diversity, and reasonable accommodations and modifications will be made whenever possible. The diversity of our student population may require that some assignments have a heavier physical responsibility due to safety.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Program Leader.
