Preconstruction Estimator – Federal & Design-Build Construction

Base Pay Range

$100,000 – $150,000 per year

Our company is seeking a Preconstruction Estimator to join a high-performance estimating team focused on U.S. federal government and design-build projects, including secure facilities, national parks, and overseas infrastructure.

• Lead all phases of proposal preparation including RFP review, document distribution, and bid strategy.
• Oversee internal estimating teams, design partners, and pre‑bid processes.
• Attend and coordinate pre‑bid site visits, develop project narratives, and manage compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
• Manage subcontractor/vendor scope development, pricing evaluations, and bid submissions.
• Interface with scheduling, legal, and operations teams to ensure smooth project transitions.
• Prepare cost breakdowns, bid bonds, insurance certificates, and complete turnover packages.

• 10+ years in commercial construction, including 3+ years in a stable, long‑term role.
• Experience leading complex federal, design‑build, and self‑perform estimates.
• Proficiency with estimating software (Sage/Timberline preferred) and On‑Screen Takeoff.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Background mentoring junior estimators is a plus.
