Packaging Specialist - Seasonal Lighting

Location:

Framingham, Massachusetts Job Type: Contract Compensation Range: $40 - 43 per hour

We are seeking a detail-driven, creative Packaging Specialist to join our Seasonal Lighting creative team for an immediate contract assignment covering a leave of absence. In this role, you will focus on packaging development for our upcoming Halloween and Harvest programs-delivering trend-forward packaging solutions spanning boxed items, hangtags, and specialty retail labels.

While this assignment is initially planned for 30 to 60 days, our team is continuously sourcing top creative talent. For a strong performer who fits the team dynamic, there is a strong likelihood of exploring longer-term contract opportunities across our wider creative divisions.

Responsibilities:

Packaging Design & Technical Execution:
Partner with the Senior Packaging Specialist to design and develop compelling brand packaging (boxes, hangtags, labels) adhering strictly to brand style guidelines and production standards.

Die-Line & Box Construction:
Work hands-on with technical boxed packaging, ensuring die-lines, folds, callouts, and structural components are production-ready.

Concept to Shelf Delivery:
Oversee packaging deliverables from initial concept through press-ready mechanical releases. Review, proof, and approve artwork, ensuring quality standards and category deadlines are consistently met.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner actively with internal Product Development teams, Buyers, Global Buying Offices (GBOs), overseas vendors, and agents to coordinate approvals and ensure seamless execution.

Prototyping & Asset Preparation:
Assist in building physical mockups and packaging prototypes for executive reviews, presentations, and buyer sign-offs.

Photography & Visual Tools:
Coordinate packaging photography requirements and compile/release requested visual toolkits and digital art assets for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education:

BFA or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related creative field preferred (or equivalent practical experience).

Experience:

1-3 years of hands-on design experience, ideally within retail, consumer goods, or commercial packaging.

Packaging Technical Aptitude:
Prior experience with boxed packaging, technical die-lines, and mechanical layout is strongly preferred.

Software Proficiency:
Expert fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop) along with Microsoft Office applications.

Design Eye:
Strong command of typography, color theory, layout hierarchy, and seasonal trend awareness.

Workflow & Communication:
Excellent organizational, verbal, and presentation skills; comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, cross-functional retail environment.
