Locatedin Greater Boston, Mass Bay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position SummaryThe ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have adesire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. This is a part-time, student employment position with no benefits.
The Peer Navigator isa year-round student leadership role.
Peer Navigators serve as welcoming,knowledgeable peer guides who support new and continuing students frompre-enrollment through their time at Mass Bay.
In this role, Peer Navigators support Orientation andReady2
Register programs, provide peer mentoring and outreach, assist students in navigating academic and support services, and promote engagement, belonging,and persistence.
Peer Navigators work closely with staff across Student Development, Enrollment Services, and Academic Advising to ensure students feelsupported, informed, and connected throughout their Mass Bay journey.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Onboarding & Orientation Support- Assist with planning, facilitation, and execution ofReady2
Register sessions, and Orientation kickoff events; - Welcome new students and families, providing guidance on enrollment steps, college processes, and campus resources;
- Facilitate peer-to-peer sessions on topics such as technology, registration, and student success strategies;
- Track attendance, document interactions, and conduct follow-up & outreach with new students via phone, email, text, and virtual platforms;
- Support a caseload of new students throughout their first year at Mass Bay in collaboration with Academic Advisors;
- Provide support and communicate, via college technology, with assigned mentees weekly;
- Assist students with learning how to utilize Bay Navigator, Blackboard, college email, and other Mass Bay systems including scheduling appointments;
- Serve as a resource for common student questions related to deadlines, technology, and campus navigation;
- Coach students on effective communication with faculty, advisors, and staff;
- Assist student in connecting with Mass Bay resources;make appropriate referrals to campus offices and support services;
- Maintain accurate documentation of outreach,communications, and student referrals & interactions;
- Encourage student involvement in campus activities, student organizations, and events;
- Collaborate with campus partners to develop and support programming focused on student success and belonging;
- Support first-year and early-term engagement initiatives, workshops, and events;
- Visit classes and events to promote resources and upcoming opportunities;
- Participate in required trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities;
- Work collaboratively with fellow student leaders, faculty, and staff;
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness and equity-minded practice in all interactions;
- Other duties as assigned.
