Our lightweight, reversible textiles prevent UV, visual, near-IR, SWIR, thermal, and RADAR detection. We’re expanding our presence in the Greater Boston area and are seeking individuals for our R&D and Prototyping teams.
PositionWe are seeking a talented and creative Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join our dynamic prototyping and design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of products that balance performance, functionality, and user interface. Working closely with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams, you will take a hands-on approach in creating innovative solutions for a wide range of products.
You will translate user needs and business goals into tangible design concepts, ensuring products have the highest technical performance but also manufacturable and practical. This role requires a multidisciplinary approach, combining expertise in textiles, mechanics, automotive, materials, and design. - Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for camouflage solutions.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate automotive, mechanical, textile, and design elements.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to ensure functionality, durability, and manufacturability.
- Optimize designs for performance, cost-efficiency, and production feasibility.
- Conduct testing and refine designs based on real-world application feedback.
- Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years’ Experience in mechanical design, preferably within the defense sector.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Fusion 360) Mat Lab
- Proven expertise in designing and developing advanced mechanical systems and mechanisms
- Prior/current military experience with Armored Vehicles.
- Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Experienced with metalworking technologies; sheet metal, milling, etc.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
- Military background or familiarity with military equipment.
- Knowledge or experience working with textiles, automotive, aeronautics, space composite materials, heat transmission, aerodynamics, or off-road areas.
- Ability to work in a lab or shop environment for prototyping and testing. Hands-on prototyping is required.
- Standard business hours, with occasional flexibility needed for project deadlines or international team collaboration.
- Occasional travel required, including travel to field locations for test events, design, prototype prove out.
