AtRe:
Build, our mission is to ensure the next generation of important products are made, at scale, in America. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our customers, employees, and communities by revitalizing America’s manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs across the country, including in historically deindustrialized regions.
We operate an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from first concept to full-scale production in critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation.
The way we operate is as important as the work we do. It’s guided by The Re:
Build Way, 16 principles that shape how we collaborate with each other, partner with our customers and vendors, and contribute to the communities where we operate.(link to The Re:Build Way principles)
We’re looking for a seasoned engineer who’s just as comfortable in a design review as in a commercial conversation. With 15+ years in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing, you’ve built credibility through engineering expertise, not sales pitches — translating manufacturability constraints into practical guidance in real time, in front of customer engineers who expect you to think like one of their own.
You’re self-directed and low-maintenance, comfortable building trust with a customer’s engineering and program teams while protecting your own company’s commercial interests. You understand your value to the customer is technical credibility, and your value to your own organization is the relationships and opportunities you bring back.
This role blends deep technical engagement with commercial visibility — embedded in a strategic customer’s environment as a trusted extension of their team, while serving as a critical link back to your own engineering and commercial organizations.
What You Get To Do- Serve as an on-site technical advisor at strategic aerospace/defense customer locations, with your schedule driven by program cadence and need
- Deliver real-time DFM feedback in customer design reviews, NPI readiness meetings, and program planning sessions, across structures, mechanisms, electronics packaging, and related assemblies
- Spot design risks early and propose alternatives that preserve form, fit, and function while improving producibility, yield, or cost
- Build deep relationships with customer engineering, program management, and supply chain partners, operating as a trusted member of their extended team
- Identify and route emerging work opportunities — components, assemblies, processes, programs — to the right internal team, coordinating with the Strategic Account Manager on commercial strategy and raising as dynamics shift
- Maintain a live opportunity funnel, tracking scope, value, timeline, and probability, and brief internal collaborators on program status and competitive dynamics
- Support internal aerospace engineering with CAD development, DFM reviews, process development, or documentation when customer workload permits, bringing back institutional knowledge to strengthen internal capabilities
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or related engineering discipline
- 15+ years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing
- Demonstrated DFM expertise in machined structures, sheet metal, composites, or electromechanical assemblies
- Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR, and A&D program management environments
- Ability to read and redline engineering drawings, GD&T, and model-based definitions
- Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable as a daily presence in a…
