Your Mission
The MRI Imaging Support Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting a remote MRI Technologist by providing direct patient monitoring, assistance with the setup and maintenance of equipment, and ensuring patient safety within the MRI environment. The MRI Imaging Support Specialist will be physically present during scans providing constant oversight, while the remote MRI tech performs the imaging process. The MRI Imaging Support Specialist must ensure communication with both the patient and the remote MRI Technologist is seamless and effective, while adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
YourRole Patient Monitoring
- Directly monitor patients at all times during MRI procedures in Zones 3 and 4.
- Ensure constant communication with both the patient and the remote MRI Technologist during the scanning process.
- Provide immediate response to changes in the patient's medical status or discomfort.
- Assist with the positioning of patients within the MRI room, ensuring proper alignment and comfort while adhering to safety standards.
- Ensure insulation is in place to prevent any risk of bore contact, internal circuit issues, or burns.
- Safeguard patient safety by ensuring they are properly insulated and positioned to avoid potential hazards.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the remote MRI Technologist, reporting any concerns or issues that arise during scanning.
- Serve as the key point of contact for patients and MRI staff, providing guidance or instruction as necessary.
- Escort patients through Zone 2 when required, ensuring a smooth transition to the scanning area (Zone 3 or
4).
- Assist in the selection and handling of appropriate MRI coils and equipment in collaboration with the remote tech.
- Oversee the set‑up and breakdown of equipment as directed by the remote MRI Technologist, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Provide immediate first response to patients within Zones 3 and 4 in the event of a change in medical status or emergency, notifying the remote tech and appropriate medical staff.
- Follow established protocols for medical emergencies, ensuring patient safety until further assistance arrives.
- Stay informed about new guidelines, equipment, and MRI procedures as related to patient safety and the MRI environment.
- Collaborate with MRI teams and provide feedback on potential improvements or alternative approaches for MRI procedures in Zone 3 and 4.
- Prior experience in a Medical Imaging MRI‑related field preferred.
- CPR certification required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Ability to remain calm and respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Understanding of MRI equipment and protocols.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in radiologic technology, MRI technology, or healthcare assistance are a plus. - Must be able to stand or remain in proximity to the patient for extended periods. Ability to assist with patient positioning and transport.
- Must complete the Alpha RT MRI Tech Aide Certificate Program within 30 days of accepting the role.
Job Description
Pay range for this position is $21‑$34/hr + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
