By joining our Data Management Branch as a Transportation Engineering Technologist III in Franklin County, you will maintain the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Highway Information System (HIS) and Centerline Network using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Global Positioning System (GPS) data.
Summary of Responsibilities- Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Global Positioning System (GPS) data to keep the cabinet’s centerline network up to date.
- Ensure Highway Information System (HIS) data is up-to-date and accurate.
- Compile HIS data to create technical reports, maps, and other statistical analyses.

Minimum RequirementsEducation: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology. Or graduate with an associate’s degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program.
Experience, Training, or
Skills:
Four years of engineering-related experience.
Substitute Education for
Experience:
Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; or graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in an engineering field; or high school graduate (with additional details).
Substitute Experience for
Education:
Must have four years of engineering-related experience with the first education option above; or must have seven years of engineering-related experience with the second education option above; or must have ten years of engineering-related experience where related technical or vocational training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years; or must have eight years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a Qualified Inspection Team Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course with the fourth education option above.
Special Requirements (Age, Licensure, Regulation, etc.): Must possess a valid driver’s license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working ConditionsWork is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites and other types of work zones which require following safety procedures.
