In this role, you will have ownership and influence over the core architecture and implementation of the Network Operating System, driving critical features and improvements for OCI’s high-performance switching infrastructure. As a principal engineer on this team, you will leverage your expertise in systems software and deep networking knowledge to design, build, and operate robust, scalable solutions powering Oracle’s hyperscale cloud.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and implement key components of the Network OS, focusing on scalability, high availability, and performance.
- Apply advanced knowledge of networking protocols (Layer 2/Layer 3, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing) to enhance and extend the capabilities of the Network OS.
- Solve complex systems-level problems, leveraging expertise in operating systems, distributed systems, and concurrency.
- Write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code in C, C++, Go, or Rust.
- Lead technical design reviews and provide mentorship to engineers across the team.
- Debug, analyze, and resolve challenging production issues in large-scale distributed environments.
- Drive improvements in testing, automation, observability, and operational processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware engineers, SREs, and product managers to deliver integrated solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience developing production-grade systems or network software.
- Strong, hands-on experience with Layer 2/Layer 3 network protocols, switching, routing, and network security.
- Proven skills in operating systems concepts, data structures, algorithms, and systems optimization.
- Experience building or maintaining high-availability systems in cloud or large-scale environments.
- Proficiency in at least one systems or network programming language (C, C++, Rust, or Go).
- Demonstrated ability to mentor others, lead technical initiatives, and drive results in cross-functional teams.

US:
Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
