Under minimum supervision, an essential employee responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal laws and ensuring compliance with university policies. Provides security for personnel, real property, and equipment. Investigates and documents crimes/incidents, documents and preserves evidence, and provides legal testimony.

• Patrol university property in a vehicle, on foot, or bicycle to provide security and law enforcement.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
• Obtain information needed and complete collision reports, criminal reports, and criminal citations.
• Process evidence and prepare court cases and provide legal testimony.
• Assist Patrol Sergeant with scheduling and approving reports.
• Train new, inexperienced police officers.
• Perform campus patrol, victim/witness assistance, or as crime prevention officer.
• Operate equipment such as vehicles, radar, emergency equipment, and breath alcohol analyzers.
• May provide first aid services until medical assistance arrives.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of laws, regulations, methods, and university policies

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited law enforcement academy and at least 10 years experience as a patrol officer. State of Kentucky Certified Law Enforcement Officer or eligibility for certification by the waiver.

Possession of a valid Kentucky operator’s license.
