Purpose and Scope
Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and division/company policy requirements.
Duties / Activities – Principal Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for assigned patient(s).
- Perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures and monitor and document treatment parameters.
- Assist in developing teaching plans to educate patients and families.
- Assist with emergency operational procedures and administer IV medication per orders.
- Initiate basic CPR measures and respond to emergency dialysis situations.
- Safely operate dialysis equipment and maintain a clean, sanitary environment.
- Participate in staff meetings and care plan coordination with physicians, dietitians, and social workers.
- Perform short‑term and long‑term patient care plan meetings and attend scheduled in‑service classes.
- Assist with coordination of care plans and act as a resource for other staff.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Requires frequent heavy lifting and moving of patients, standing for prolonged periods, bending, and occasional lifting up to 200 lbs and chemical solutions up to 30 lbs. May travel to assigned facilities and business units.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN).
- Current appropriate State licensure.
Experience and Required Skills
- One year medical‑surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Hemodialysis experience preferred.
- ICU experience preferred.
- Successfully complete training course in hemodialysis theory and practice.
- CPR certification.
- Complete Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire.
- Ability to provide coverage during short‑staffing.
- Must meet color‑blindness test requirement.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
