Job Summary
The Farm Technician will report to the KSU Aquaculture Farm Manager and will serve as a support person for the Aquaculture Program/Research Center, in the college of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources. This position will assist in maintaining Aquaculture Research Center activities such as mowing, general maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, light electrical work, harvesting, and assisting in the care of animals. Duties also include fertilizing, grounds keeping, and aquatic pesticide and herbicide application.
Some weekend work will be required on an as needed basis.
- Provide facilities support at the KSU Aquaculture Research Center in the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources (KSU)
- Assists in the management of operations at the KSU Aquaculture Research Center
- Assists in conducting farm activities such as unloading shipments, harvesting, and repair work as needed
- Assist with grounds keeping such as mowing and trimming
- Assist in making repairs and improvements
- Assist with monitoring and weekly checks of safety systems
- Responding to urgent animal care situations, including after hours
- Maintaining clean and organized research spaces as needed
- Other related duties as required
- Knowledge of Farm activities
- Effective oral and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team
- Initiative, resourcefulness, punctuality, and professionalism are essential
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications- High School Diploma
- Field work may involve extended physical exertion
- Exposure to unusual elements, such as uncomfortable temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises all requiring standard safety procedures. All necessary personal protective equipment will be provided
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs or more
