Senior Research And Development Engineer

Job Description

Pay Range: $60hr - $64hr

• The R&D Senior Engineer will be a key contributor within the Specimen Management and Specimen Acquisition platform.
• This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, theories, and concepts, along with the ability to develop imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to complex technical problems.
• The engineer will work under general direction, independently determine solution approaches, and contribute to projects of significant scope while ensuring successful and timely task completion.

• Develop technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles and experimental, computational, and analytical methods.
• Independently determine and develop solution approaches for assigned projects.
• Contribute to large, complex projects or lead smaller scope projects.
• Support material, design, and process changes through established design control processes with well-documented research and analysis.
• Design and develop in vivo and in vitro models to evaluate product features and improvements.
• Apply innovative, risk-based approaches to product development challenges with original thinking.
• Develop robust test methods, design test fixtures, and execute measurement system analysis.
• Plan, execute, and analyze design of experiments.
• Write, implement, and lead bench studies, tolerance stack-up analyses, design verification, and validation activities.
• Support vendor interactions and develop material and component specifications.
• Perform data analysis using statistical tools, regression analysis, and transfer function development.
• Collect, record, interpret, analyze, and present data to peers and business leadership.
• Provide advanced engineering and product evaluation support to build business cases for new opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality policies, procedures, and quality assurance principles through appropriate communication and training.

• Strong knowledge of engineering first principles.
• Proven technical judgment and technical leadership capabilities.
• Proficiency in solid modeling tools such as Pro/E, Solid Works, or equivalent.
• Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with project planning tools.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams.
• Proficiency in fixture design with basic machining considerations and test method development.
• Understanding of measurement systems analysis.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies including DMAIC and Design for Six Sigma.
• Experience with disciplined phase-gate product development processes.
• Product development experience for tightly controlled, high-volume manufacturing environments.

• Experience leading small cross-functional teams or directing associates.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask within tight deadlines.
• Experience with functional planning, requirement generation, and cross-functional design reviews across product development phases.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

• Experience with design verification and validation activities.
• Hands‑on experience with experimental testing and statistical analysis.
• Ability to support strategic product development initiatives and innovation efforts.
