Responsibilities- Work under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions.
- Contribute to projects of considerable significance or lead smaller scope projects.
- Support material/design/process changes to the product line through the design control process, ensuring well-documented research and analyses.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles and a variety of methods including experimental, computational, and analytical.
- Design and develop in vivo and in vitro models to evaluate product features and improvements.
- Apply innovative and logical risk-based approaches to product development challenges, demonstrating original thinking.
- Ensure compliance with quality policies, procedures, and practices through effective communication, training, and education.
- Plan, execute, and analyze design of experiments (DOE).
- Lead bench studies, tolerance stack-up analysis, design verification, validation, vendor interactions, and specifications development.
- Perform data analysis using statistical tools, regression analyses, and develop transfer functions.
- Collect, record, report, interpret, and analyze data, presenting results to peers and business leadership.
- Provide advanced engineering skills and product evaluation support to build business cases for new opportunities.
- Sound knowledge of engineering first principles.
- Strong technical judgment and leadership skills.
- Experience in R&D functional planning, requirement generation, and technical reviews for all product development phases.
- Strong project management, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills to work within tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in solid modeling (Pro/E, Solid Works or equivalent).
- Effective communication skills to convey concepts, ideas, and knowledge clearly.
- Experience in directing associates and leading small cross-functional groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
- Understanding of disciplined phase-gate product development processes and project planning.
- Proficiency with fixture design and developing test methods.
- Understanding of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).
- Knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) practices and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.
- Considerations for product development in tightly controlled high-volume manufacturing processes.
- Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
